I met Giancarlo while following Chicago-based indie artist Gabacho, on tour across Southern California. I had caught him a couple of years ago at The Paramount with a different lineup. His sound this round took an interesting turn with hired guns Chase on drums and Giancarlo on bass. It was a wonderful tour with each room more crowded than the last.
Mexico City Heartbreak might tell you their favorite was Que Sera in Long Beach. I’m inclined to say my favorite was The Woodbridge in the haunted textile building of Skid Row. But Giancarlo? His was the chaos-turned-elegant night at Seven Bar in Santa Barbara. His and Chase’s quick thinking saved an otherwise doomed night, one that might have had the largest and most grateful turnout. I think the most tickets were sold that night, and the bar had its own regulars for a DJ night. One girl made her rounds pulling people in to dance. Giancarlo bounced around. It might have been Tough Front’s favorite, but I haven’t asked. Listen in for the full story!
